Nick McLaren is the senior director of development and alumni relations for the College of Social Science at Michigan State University (MSU). He serves as the chief advancement officer of the college, providing overall leadership for the development and alumni relations operations of MSU's largest college-based constituency of nearly 90,000 alumni.
An alumnus of MSU, Mr. McLaren is a loyal Spartan both personally and professionally with over 13 years of direct fundraising and management experience. Prior to his current position, he served the College of Social Science as its first associate director of development from 2008 to 2012. His other positions have included director of development for the College of Arts and Sciences at Western Michigan University, assistant director of development for MSU’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and assistant director of Annual Giving Program at MSU.
In addition to managing a portfolio of major gift prospects, Mr. McLaren works in close collaboration with deans, faculty, senior administrators, alumni volunteers, and fundraising staff across campus.
Mr. McLaren holds a bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management from Michigan State University. He is currently working toward his master’s degree in Higher, Adult and Lifelong Education in MSU’s College of Education.
