Alumni-selected Awards

College of Social Science presents two awards each year that are selected by an alumni committee.

The Outstanding Alumni Award

Presented annually, this award recognizes a graduate of the MSU College of Social Science whose combination of credentials, experience, and achievements distinguish him or her in his or her chosen field. Nominations are submitted by alumni and college leadership.

The Outstanding Teaching Award

Presented annually, this award recognizes a current faculty member in the MSU College of Social Science who takes pride in and is committed to quality teaching and who demonstrates substantial continuing involvement in undergraduate education. Nominations are submitted by chairs and directors with input from current students.

Winners are honored with a plaque at the College of Social Science spring commencement ceremony, given an opportunity to briefly address the graduates, and attend lunch with the dean and other representatives of the college following the ceremony.
