Environmental and Resource Economics

The interdepartmental graduate specialization in Environmental and Resource Economics develops students’ expertise in the application of economics to problems of environmental and natural resource use and policy. Students participating in the specialization program:

  • learn the advanced economic concepts and theories that are relevant to research on natural resource and environmental policy;
  • develop a high level of expertise in research and teaching natural resource and environmental economics;
  • acquire a deep understanding of the historical and institutional components of environmental and resource economics.

This specialization is jointly administered by the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the College of Social Science. The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources is the primary administrative unit. Faculty from the departments of Agricultural Economics; Community, Agriculture, Recreation and Resource Studies; Economics; Fisheries and Wildlife; and Forestry participate in this specialization.
