International Presence

As part of an internationally known U.S. public university with global reach, Michigan State University’s College of Social Science is committed to broadening students’ awareness of the interconnectedness of local and international events and issues.

One of the most pressing challenges facing the college today concerns teaching and research focused on the restructuring and globalization of social, behavioral, and economic processes. Economic restructuring and related issues—the emergence of a new underclass, migration of people, changing agricultural and corporate strategies, and democratic and international development—provide the college with an opportunity to serve both the state of Michigan and the nation by conducting research, developing curricula, and preparing students in an international context.
