  • An essay (one page, double spaced) describing your interest in the program and how it fits into your academic focus and career goals. Upload via online application.
  • One recommendation from a faculty member, academic advisor or professional contact. Indicate their email address on the online application and our office will send a recommendation form to them. (No recommendation needed for those applying to the InnovateGov service-learning internship).
  • Intern Applicants Only A one-page resume emphasizing academic and other relevant activities suitable for submission to internship supervisors. Attendance at a Career Services Resume Workshop or consultation with a career advisor is recommended. Upload via online application.

A $100 application fee will be billed (except for those in the InnovateGov service-learning internship or Flint internship) to your student account soon after the application deadline. The application fee is applied to the cost of the program and is non-refundable once a student is admitted into the program.  A student who wishes to withdraw their application prior to acceptance must notify MSU’s Study Away Program Office in writing that they no longer wish to be considered.
