Advising

College Undergraduate Advising

Fostering individual growth and excellence through maximizing learning opportunity and facilitating student connection to the social sciences, the University, and the world.

Students with majors in the College of Social Science are assigned to academic advisers within their major department or program. For specific information about advising assignments, contact your major department or the individuals listed below.

It is important for all students to meet with their advisers on a regular basis. Advisers can help construct a course of study to meet special needs and interests as well as assist students in selecting specific courses to satisfy university, college, and major requirements. In addition, advisers can be a helpful resource in suggesting out-of-classroom activities—like clubs and work experiences—that can enhance career preparation.

Students in the College of Social Science should familiarize themselves with their degree requirements and actively share the responsibility for developing a sound plan of study that addresses their personal academic goals. By working closely with advisers, students can take advantage of the wide range of opportunities available at MSU.
