Info Session: Community Engagement, Society & Culture in Belize
Fri, November 7, 2025 3:00 PM - Fri, November 7, 2025 4:00 PM at Zoom
During spring break students can learn about the culture of the Central American country of Belize while also participating in a community engagement project.
Through this program, students will work to build their cultural competencies, which they will have the opportunity to demonstrate through community engagement in a K-12 school in Santa Elena Town/ San Ignacio, Belize. Students will begin by exploring the “Dangers of a Single Story” as described by author and activist, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, which will be used as a touchpoint for this course. Students will spend their week in Belize putting into practice the learnings that they will engage in pre-departure.
While abroad, students will also participate in various cultural experiences and get the opportunity to explore the history and natural beauty in Belize’s largest district. Upon returning to campus, students will complete a final reflective project to demonstrate their growth, both as a learner and as a citizen of our increasingly globalized world
