On April 23, the College of Social Science hosted the Governor Jim Blanchard Public Service Forum & Master of Public Policy Capstone Forum at the Huntington Club within Spartan Stadium.

This year’s event featured former U.S. Senator Carl Levin, who represented the State of Michigan from 1979 to 2015. Named one of TIME magazine’s 10 best senators, Levin fought tirelessly to develop Michigan’s economy and protect our national resources.

U.S. Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin and MSU President Satish Upda were also in attendance of the event, introducing Senator Levin and speaking on the importance of public service. Senator Levin also spoke on the importance of citizen engagement, public service and Spartan Statesmanship.

Following the speeches were refreshments and a reception in which Master of Public Policy students presented their capstone research projects. Students covered topics such as education policy, international relations, workforce development, and many others.
