Founder and creator of the Save A Warrior, or SAW, program, Jake Clark, is coming to MSU for a free event at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center from 7 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 9, 2019.
Since the program’s inception in 2012, more than 1,000 veterans and first responders have gone through SAW, turning to it as a last attempt to save their lives. The program has done just that, with more than a 99.5% success rate in preventing suicide. The week-long, warrior-led “war detox” program has offered a veterans a solution to post-traumatic stress, moral injury and the suicide epidemic.
The evening will include a screening of CNN’s “The War Comes Home,” which follows two veterans before, during and after SAW, documenting the lifesaving transformation the program provides.
“I only wish SAW had been around when I came home from Vietnam,” said Karl Marlantes, decorated Marine veteran, Rhodes Scholar and best-selling author of “What it is Like to Go to War” and “Matterhorn.”
This event is sponsored by the MSU School of Social Work and Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center, in partnership with MSU's Combat Veterans Certificate Program.
