Five Michigan State University Social Science graduate programs ranked within top 20 of the country

In its 2022 America’s Best Graduate Schools ranking, U.S. News and World Report recognized four of the MSU College of Social Science graduate programs as among the top 20 in the nation. 

The following programs earning national recognition are:

  • No. 3 – African History
  • No. 9 – Criminal Justice 
  • No. 11 – Econometrics
  • No. 17 – African-American History

U.S. News & World Report does not rank all graduate programs annually, meaning that the College of Social Science's industrial/organizational psychology graduate program has maintained its top-ranking position of #1 according to 2021 rankings. Also according to 2021 rankings, the School of Criminal Justice’s online graduate program is #5 in the nation.

Beyond the College of Social Science, 12 other MSU graduate programs were also included in the nation's top 20, with five coming in at number one. Learn more about these programs here
