HOW COVID-19 TRANSFORMED MY LEARNING EXPIRIENCE… Family & Community Stories
This competition will highlight the commitment to community engagement and experiential learning. This commitment is further contextualized within the ongoing global COVID pandemic. Interested students are strongly encouraged to celebrate the transformational nature of experiential learning via their own unique method of expression.
Open to all degree seeking students in the College of Social Science who participation in a variety of meaningful educational experiences including course projects, service to organizations, social justice initiatives, etc. since March 2020.
This platform will give Social Scientist the opportunity to share how COVID-19 has affected your relationship with experiential learning? How COVID-19 affected your relationship with your family and community?
All submissions must adhere to the general guidelines outlined below. Students must submit their original work by April 14th at Dean's Choice Grant 2021: HOW COVID-19 TRANSFORMED MY LEARNING EXPIRIENCE… Family & Community Stories
General Guidelines
- Digital submission: Photo Essay, PowerPoint Presentation, Social Media Project, Vlog and Website (for alternative digital form, please contact our office)
- Entry must:
- Be submitted using the online application
- Be original work and innovative, and have the ability to engage and/or appeal to other students.
- Clearly answer the questions: How did COVID-19 affected your relationship with experiential learning? How did COVID-19 affected your relationship with your family and community?
- Highlight with clarity and depth the value of service and experiential learning as an important and transformative experience for undergraduate students.
- Photo Essay
- Include a clear thesis statement
- Minimum of 1 photo and maximum of 10 photos
- Each photo must include a caption
- Social Media Project
- Content must be related to the Dean’s Choice Award theme
- Page must be open to public
- PowerPoint
- The length of PowerPoint should not exceed 5 minutes
- Include photos, text or videos
- Include name, major, title experiential learning program that you participated
- Vlog Guidelines:
- The length of the video should not exceed 120 seconds (2 minutes).
- All video entries should begin with a title screen that includes:
- Name
- Title of the video
- Major
- Experiential Learning Program that you participated in
- Student is permitted to use PowerPoint or Prezi in the video
- All video entries must be submitted through YouTube. Then submit the link in the online application.
- Website Guidelines:
- All blogs or websites should include:
- Name
- Major
- Experiential Learning Program that you participated in
- Minimum of 2500 words within the blog posts.
- Minimum of 4 pictures to be included within the blog posts and website.
- Student must submit the link in the online application.
- If desired, students are allowed to submit a combination of digital submissions.
- For example:
- If you choose to do a blog, you can include vlog or video.
- If you choose to do a website, you can include blog or video.
- Limited use of copyrighted material will be permitted in the entry so long as it is lawful or fair use, and so long as such use does not constitute the majority of the entry.
- Student must credit all sources used to create the submission in the end credits or in a separately submitted works-cited list.
