International Holocaust Remembrance Day 2024

This month, we observe "International Holocaust Remembrance Day" on January 27th. The date marks the anniversary of the first liberation of a Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp. International Holocaust Remembrance Day commemorates the millions of Holocaust victims and reminds individuals of our collective responsibility to address residual traumas, maintain effective remembrance policies, care for historic sites, and promote further education, documentation and research.

DR. RONEN STEINBERG

Dr. Ronen Steinberg is an Associate Professor in MSU's History Department. Dr. Steinberg teaches courses on modern European history, the history and theory of genocide, transitional justice and human rights. He emphasizes a focus with his students on how different disciplines in the social sciences approach the subject of genocide.

JACOB STARNER

Jacob Starner is a senior at MSU studying Economics with a minor in Jewish studies through The Michael and Elain Sterling Institute for Jewish Studies and Modern Israel. He is heavily involved in the on-campus Jewish community, participating in activities with the Jewish Learning Center and MSU Hillel.

RABBI SIMON STRATFORD

Simon Stratford graduated from the College of Social Science with a degree in social work and completed a minor in Jewish studies. Having completed rabbinical school and being ordained in 2017, Stratford currently serves as Associate Rabbi and Director of Lifelong Learning at Temple Sholom of Cincinnati.
