Carl Davidson became the Interim Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs in August of 2019. Carl is a MSU University Distinguished Professor (2019) and has been a professor of Economics since 1982, serving as chair of the department from 2006 to 2015. He also received MSU’s William J. Bael Outstanding Faculty Award in 2004.  Carl has a B.A. in Economics from Emory University, a M.S. and a Ph.D, both in Economics, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He served as co-editor to World Economy (Americas Edition) from 2005 to 2009 and associate editor, to the European Economic Review from 2011 to 2013. Carl is an External Research Fellow for the Center on Globalization and Economic Policy at the University of Nottingham. His research falls into two general areas: the influence of labor market structure on issues related to international trade and the development of models of oligopolistic behavior designed to help us better understand how firms with significant market power interact. His work has appeared in outlets such as the Journal of Political Economy, Review of Economic Studies, Economic Journal, Rand Journal of Economics, International Economic Review, and the Journal of International Economics.
