Dr. C. Emily Durbin is the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies in the College of Social Science and Professor of Psychology. Previously, Dr. Durbin served as the College's Associate Dean for Graduate Studies.
Dr. Durbin's research focuses on the emotional lives of children, including understanding the origins of temperamental differences in youth, and how these differences form the basis for the evolution of personality across development. Her work demonstrates the important role emotional traits play across many aspects of the lifespan from early childhood though emerging adulthood, including neurobehavioral development. mental health, and social adjustment.
Dr. Durbin is an Associate Editor at the journals Psychological Assessment and Journal of Research in Personality. She received her PhD in clinical psychology from Stony Brook University and before joining MSU in 2010, was on the faculty at Northwestern University.
