Dr. Carole Gibbs, Associate Professor in the School of Criminal Justice, and Dr. Fiona Chan, a doctoral alumna from the School of Criminal Justice, have received the American Society of Criminology’s Division of White-Collar and Corporate Crime’s Outstanding Article or Book Chapter Award!
The two researchers received this award for their Criminology article “When Guardians Become Offenders: Understanding Guardian Capability through the Lens of Corporate Crime.” The Division of White-Collar and Corporate Crime reserves this award for scholars who have published an article or book chapter that has made a significant contribution to the field.
Dr. Gibbs says “I am thrilled to receive this award with Dr. Chan. I hope it serves as a catalyst for further scholarship that brings the challenge of corporate crime control to the forefront of criminology."
Carole Gibbs is an Associate Professor in the School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University. Her research interests include understanding street and elite crime from a systems perspective and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education. She previously served as Acting Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and is currently serving as Interim Associate Dean for Graduate Studies in the College of Social Science. Recent publications have appeared in Crime and Delinquency, Criminology and the Journal of Higher Education Management.
