Office of Institutional Access (OIA)

The Office of Institutional Access works to create an equitable, welcoming, and opportunity-rich environment for faculty, staff, students, alumni, and our surrounding communities. We advance access by identifying and removing barriers, closing opportunity gaps, and fostering conditions for success. Through collaboration, innovation, and accountability, we strive to ensure that all members of our community can thrive and contribute fully to the life of the College of Social Science.

The Dean’s Institutional Access Small Grant Program

The Dean’s Institutional Access Small Grant Program is a competitive small grants program which provides up to $5,000 for social science scholarship that engages thoughtfully with, and advances SSC’s mission of inclusive excellence. Funding will either be awarded to fund dissertation research with an access-focus or access-focus dissertation completion (no predissertation research).

The program aims to promote inclusive excellence by recruiting early career scholars who demonstrate potential to bring distinction to MSU, substantially enhance the College of Social Science standing, and support the advancement of Institutional Access, Opportunity, and Excellence.
